The feedlot aspect of Showcattle will not be a big part of this.

Will there atleast be a slaughter button though? :)

There will be a way to get rid of cattle. Figuring out how to make sure it doesn't become another feedlot game, though.

Okay that sounds good to me and I honestly like the fact that you're trying to steer is away from the feedlot aspect and more towards the showcattle side of things. I was just curious and I appreciate the explanation

I like trying to make it more about show cattle and less about feedlot type operations, but I did like on showcattle.com being able to supplement income with feeders. Even if it was just junk show cattle that I fed out or selling a cow after her first calf. I also think it could be benificial to the game if there were people who bred cows for feeders just to have income to buy steers to show because that means they would buy steers to show and players that want to breed show cattle could sell steers. Also if there were more genes that affect stuff like feed conversion, feed consumption, back fat or marbling, finish weight, and having premiums set for set weights and finish it would make it more complicated than just frame. Also if the type of feed can make a difference and be worth trying different types or even some cattle will preform better on one feed and some cattle preform better on another or based on the operation you can start on grass and change to corn to finish to keep them from finishing too early.
On the cow side, if her ability to eat and produce milk and take care of the calf and breed back has affects on how the calf grows, that would encourage feedlot players to make better cows, and show cattle players could utilize those as recips within the game.

and at the end of the day people are going to breed what they want so I'd just take their money lol. Some people would breed for color that had no benifit in the game and some bred like mini angus.

just saying it would be a realistic income and would keep it from being like people raised "show calves" to sell to the in game Johnny 4her that was designed to be an income sorce for people to sell show calves but truthfully they just sell junk calves to get

Actively avoiding making this a feeder cattle production game.

Thanks Jeff. I certainly don't want this to be another feeder cattle operation game.

Personally,  I would really like it if when breeding our cows, that they stayed true to the breed. Everyone is just going to have to follow breed traits and learn how to breed the right animals to get those traits that their animals lack. It was just too easy on Showcattle.com to toss animals to the packers,  you got your money and not another thought about that cow. Unless you're heavy into the showing aspect of it, and then the competition is on! You don't get to be #1 in a breed because you slacked off and didn't care. I do care. And I'm #1 in several breeds.

I also would like to see the halterbreaking aspect. Kudos to whoever posted that. Having an animal in the showring must be under control. Unless it's a pen class, I guess. Grooming is another option. The whites on them coats gotta be white! Just kidding on that. Interesting thought though.

My main point is to have animals breed true to their breeds, without a ton of all this cross breeding right and left. What you select in your starter pack is what the breed will be straight up.

Who cares if it's a feeder game if they're paying the subscription fee? On the old game, originally in the early 2000's, breedings were somewhat predictable but it was tinkered with to slow the progress and you might get one keeper out of 20. What are we to do with those other calves?  I would say that, at the end of the old game, you might have 30 feeders to one keeper. If we're gonna have no option to sell feeders then I for sure hope that the number of decent calves is higher.

Double D, I think if he adds genes/traits to certain breeds for breed character that would be cool and make sense to do. Especially if there are certain breeds known for milking better or fattening better or being more muscular, etc. But I don't think we should have to breed them to be like the "original" because a chi today is nowhere like the old chis. I'm not sure anything is too close to the original from back in the day. And in the ring they aren't judged for that.

And I agree if they are willing to pay it shouldn't matter. If anything it helps a player learn the game before jumping into breeding for show. Plus you could add a bunch of traits to it so you didn't have players only focusing on one trait. And if players are growing commercial stock that could help show stock players. For example they could buy quality recips that have better conception and milking. Or they could buy a better commercial oriented Angus bull to breed to their first calf Hereford heifers for calving ease, if you can't find a good calving ease hereford you might as well get a good feeder out of first calf heifers.

This will not be a feeder cattle game. It's a non-starter; I have zero interest. You're going to need to make that on your own.

Then you're going to need to make the number of keeper calves a higher percentage than the old game was at the end.  I'm not about to sit here and have 1 out of 20 be a marginal keeper and then have 19 I just have to kill for nothing.  That's not a good business model for this game. People aren't going to like that.

You're not going to like this game and should probably find something else.

Wow.  You know, I played showcattle.com from the beginning and I work in sales.  I don't understand an attitude that doesn't take the consideration of your subscribers into account at all. Well, God rest the old game but I guess I'll definitely be moving on.

You are not a subscriber on this site; nobody is.

This is not Showcattle. That's literally at the top of the front page of the site.
